Do not know where to look for answer to my question posted here? I am a Lay Cistercian on line with the Mellaray and Missippi Abbey. WE do not have any that I know of in area. I and my husband also belong to the Eastern Orthodox Monastery/Seminary o f the Old time kind of order where you stand for almost 3 hrs of Church. We read from English prayer books as it is in another language, but once a month in the city we do have an English service offered. Grew Up Protestant. Think that this has helped to make me understand much better when people have questions about religion how to explain the way that services are conducted and the beliefs. Please if possible can anyone answer my question about : " If anyone feels and has felt the ’calling’ to be a nun, but married early( talking females) is there any such thing or can there be such a thing as allowing them to become a Nun, but living in the world as a lay Cistercian? Thank you.. for any answers. Love this site and information provided!

I do not have the right to mention this but my heart just cannot help as it feels I need to ask, anyway, but have you ever considered allowing married woman to become Nuns? Many people for perhaps various reasons as maybe conversion after marriage into the Catholic faith did not have this opportunity. It would be nice as think many woman could bring the faith our into the world, by being married, and I know even I live mostly a monastic life, other then care of family and church of course. Just wondered if it could ever be considered? This has been on my heart for a while. Thank you for allowing me to at least mention this thought.

I come from Malta. At the moment we do not have any Cistercian Abbeys or Monasteries in our country. I pray that some day they will manage to come to Malta and have a Cistercian presence in our Country. I am very much attracted to the Cistercian Spirituality, but unfortunately I cannot enrole as a Lay Cistercian since I cannot have contact with Cistercian Monasteries. I do my best to live the Cistercian Spirituality as much as I can through information that I get from the web. I unite my self in spirit with all the Lay Cistercians in the world to live as a lay Cistercian in spirit.

Could anyone provide me with a sample of a liturgic formula or prayer used during a service at the occasion of the introduction of a new lay associate? Thank you. ewbodson@busmail.net
